2017 Boston Summer Open IBJJF

2017 Boston Summer Open IBJJFThe UMASS hosted the 2017 Boston Summer Open IBJJF one more time this past weekend.

Registration closed due to full capacity, and a lot of teams were represented.

The Brazilian Top Team Competition Team had 40 athletes and was led by Prof. Daniel “ Mirel “ Gazoni (BTT Boston) and Prof. Fábio Holanda (BTT Canada).

A lot of medals were conquered, and we came up in 3rd place overall, only 4 points from the 2nd team (that had 79 athletes).

BTT at the IBJJF Worlds 2017

Another IBJJF Worlds in the books and this one left a bitter taste.

Leonardo Cascão Saggioro BTT at the IBJJF Worlds 2017

Black Belt Leonardo “Cascão” Saggioro was the champion in our eyes, he lost via advantages.

In the quarter-finals and semi-finals, Leonardo took out two of the favorites to win and did a great job in the final.

Congratulations for a great performance.

Pan Am IBJJF 2017

The IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation) Pan Am Championship kicked off on March 15, until Sunday, May 19, 2017.

Once again the BTT (Brazilian Top Team) competition team went strong with athletes from various schools and had very good results.

Brazilian Top Team wins IBJJF Long Beach Open 2016

On December 11, 2016, the IBJJF came to Long Beach and Brazilian Top Team was waiting to once again claim the team victory in the Long Beach Open.

Master Marcelo Perdomo led a focused team to domination against the many school conglomerates of Gracie Barra, Atos, Checkmate and others to once again prove BTT is the pound for pound best school for BJJ in Southern California.

BTT Competition Team at San Antonio International Open Jiu-JitsuSt. Mary’s University in Texas, hosted the 2016 San Antonio International Open Jiu-Jitsu IBJJF – International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation April 23rd and 24th.

BTT Competition Team had athletes from all schools in Texas: BTT Plano, BTT Austin, BTT Angleton, BTT San Antonio and BTT Humble.

Jiu Jitsu is growing in Texas, so does BTT and for the next years the competition team will grow stronger than ever.

BTT Competition Team came together at the 2016 Boston Spring Open

2016 Boston Spring OpenBrazilian Top Team Competition Team had an incredible performance at the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu 2016 Boston Spring Open.

Organized by the IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Federation), the 2016 Boston Spring Open was held at University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston) Athletics last Saturday, April 16th and brought the BJJ’s elite to Massachusetts.

BTT Competition Team earned an amazing result with only 28 athletes under BTT Boston’s Head Instructor, Daniel Gazoni, finishing in 4th place overall.

Brazilian Top Team Competition Team conquered several gold medals from white to black belt demonstrating a good display of brazilian jiu jitsu.

BTT earn great result at the Houston International Open Jiu-Jitsu

BTT earn great result at the Houston International Open Jiu-JitsuSt. Thomas University Jerabeck Activity and Athletic Center hosted the 6th edition of the Houston International Open Jiu-Jitsu IBJJF Championship 2016 this past weekend.

It’s not a secret anymore the growth of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the big state of Texas. All the “big” academies have schools there and the IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation) has been hosting tournaments there since 2010.

Our competition team had members of all BTT schools in Texas, BTT San Antonio (Prof. Diego Gamonal) , BTT Plano (Prof. Leonardo Machado), BTT Austin (Prof. Ruy Frade), BTT Angleton (Instructor Fernando Halfed and Head Coach Diego Gamonal) and from BTT Jacksonville, Florida with Prof. Marcelo Salazar.

The result was lots of medals and 2nd place overall to Brazilian Top Team, great achievement and the prove that united we are stronger.

BTT at the IBJJF Worlds Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championship 2014

btt-ibjjf-worlds-brazilian-jiu-jitsu-championship-2014-03Once again the IBJJF Worlds Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championship took place at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach California. 5 days full of exciting matches and competitors from all over the world.Brazilian Top Team Competition Team was well represented with athletes from several affiliated schools.

Black Belts did a good job, Raphael Macuco and Omar Sabha represented the team at the absolute, both off them won their first match and got stopped at the second. AT weight class, Leonardo “Cascão” Saggioro won 2 matches to get in to the quarter finals where he lost by referee’s decision.

Prof. Diego Gamonal (BTT Plano) was part of the most commented match of the tournament, where he face one of the favorites Kennan Cornelius. Diego was winning by 2 points when Kennan applied an illegal move and was disqualified. Gamonal got stopped at the quarter finals as well.

Ayisha Issa had 3 submissions and 5 X 0 at the final at the blue belt heavy weight, securing the gold. Prof. Fabio Holanda (BTT Canada) awarded the World Champ with a purple belt at the podium.

Two years ago Alison Tremblay won the Worlds at purple belt, she did it again at brown belt super heavy. Alison also got 3rd place at he always tough absolute division.

We had many others competitors representing the team and Master Bustamante was there among other coaches to help the team.
